Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 26, 2026

Your data stays in your browser

Drift Mail is a client-side application. Your email data is fetched directly from Google's servers to your browser and is never sent to, stored on, or processed by any third-party server. Drift Mail has no backend, no database, and no server-side processing.

What we access

Drift Mail requests read-only access to your Gmail account using the gmail.readonly OAuth scope. This means Drift Mail can view your email messages and metadata but cannot send, delete, or modify your emails in any way.

How your data is used

Email metadata (sender name, email address, subject line, date, and snippet) is used solely to display your conversations in the Drift Mail interface. This data is processed entirely within your browser and is never transmitted to any external service.

Local storage

Drift Mail may cache email metadata in your browser's local storage to improve loading performance. This data never leaves your device and can be cleared at any time by clearing your browser data or by disconnecting your account within Drift Mail.

No tracking or analytics

Drift Mail does not use cookies, analytics services, advertising networks, or any form of user tracking. No personal data is collected, shared, or sold to third parties.

Third-party services

Drift Mail uses the Google Gmail API to fetch your email data. Your use of this API is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. Drift Mail's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Revoking access

You can disconnect your Google account at any time using the Disconnect button in the Drift Mail sidebar. You can also revoke access in your Google Account permissions. Upon disconnection, all locally cached data is cleared.

Children's privacy

Drift Mail is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
